About the class
Come stretch your artistic muscles in this fun and innovative movement class! The first hour will reacquaint you with various movement techniques that focus on individual discipline as well as group dynamics. In the second hour, we will put those skills to the test through textual analysis and interpretation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven.
Class will run approximately two hours and is limited to 16 participants.
About the instructor
Christina Rose Ashby is a theater director, educator, and founding artistic director of Permafrost Theatre Collective. Having trained as an actor first, Christina is able to draw from her vast experience to create dynamic work that speaks to audiences of all ages and walks of life. Christina has extensive training in a variety of movement techniques including Viewpoints, Williamson, Lacoq, and Labon. Her devised retelling of Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland stories, Are You Alice: A New Wonderland Tale, enjoyed a near sold-out and critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. Her next devised outing, Poe’s Children, haunted the FRIGID NYC’s Days of the Dead Festival in 2024. As an instructor and coach, Christina has worked with NYU Tisch, Mile Square Theater, and Interlochen Arts Camp. She holds an MFA in directing from the Actors Studio Drama School.
