MountainTown Harmony Explosion Camp 2019

The Mount Pleasant MI Chapter of SPEBSQSA is affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society. It is the organizational base for the MountainTown Singers and the MountainTown Family Chorus. The chapter is focused on making singing available in groups that have fun, learn and support one another, like family.

The total camp fee is $289 for 2019. Secure your spot with a deposit of $39 today! The fee balance will be due later. Scholarships are available based on need.
This annual camp brings together young singers (age 15-25) with diverse backgrounds and experiences. The musical focus of the camp is a cappella music with a tilt toward the barbershop style. World class clinicians and teaching quartets teach skills that include healthy singing, close harmony tuning, spine tingling blend and a host of other items that will be useful and fun for the campers. Friendships will be developed in a supportive environment while enjoying university level venues and accommodations. The ninth annual event is a must for students looking to try something new and an opportunity for prior year campers to return to hang with their friends and add another tool to their singing toolbox.

 Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Yes, the minimum age requirement is 15. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis after conversation with the camp administrator/musical director. How do I get the camp music?
The camp staff will distribute the camp sheet music and part specific learning tracks approximately two weeks prior to the start of camp. There will be four songs provided.
Are there additional costs?
The $289 camp fee includes lodging, meals, camp music and other items needed for the camp. The only other cost is for camp show tickets. They will be made available on Eventbrite approximately one month before the show.
Are there scholarships or financial assistance available?
Yes, campers/families may apply for financial assistance via the MountainTown Singers website. Several types of organizations and many individuals contribute to the fund, including Barbershop Harmony Society chapters in several Michigan cities that offer direct assistance to camp families. We will work with all applicants to secure the assistance needed.
