Mountain Dulcimer Workshop
In this 2-day workshop, join musician Sarah Kate Morgan and learn the basics of playing the Mountain Dulcimer.
This is a 2-day workshop, it will take place on May 14 and 15 from 1pm to 4pm each day at the LMU Center for the Arts in Cumberland Gap, TN. A limited number of loaner instruments are available, please indicate if you need one when you register.
In this 2-day workshop, join musician Sarah Kate Morgan and learn the basics of playing the Mountain Dulcimer. The mountain dulcimer is a great first instrument for folks who are interested in playing traditional Appalachian music! In this workshop you will start from scratch; no prior music experience needed. You can expect to leave this class with all the fundamental skills you'll need to get started on your dulcimer journey. We'll cover holding, strumming, fretting, tuning, the dulcimer as well as lots of traditional music from the Southern Appalachian Mountains as well as a few folk songs from around the world. Bring a dulcimer in playable condition if you have one, but a limited number of loaner instruments are available.
This workshop will take place on May 18th and 19th from 6pm to 9pm on both days.
This workshop is for those ages 18 and up.
