Motivational Interviewing Training

University of Michigan Department of Psychiatry

This 2-day, interactive training will cover the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing (MI). By the end of the 2-day training, participants will be expected to:

<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Have a basic understanding of the MI "spirit," fundamental elements, and terminology</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Have practiced basic MI engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning skills</LI>
<LI CLASS="MsoNormal">Understand how to integrate MI into daily practice to improve treatment engagement and efficiency around a variety of mental health and substance use problem areas</LI>
</UL>
Target Audience
Mental health, substance abuse, medical, or other professionals who work with patients or clients regarding behavior change goals. CEs will be available for licensed social workers.
