Mother's Day Tea and Historic Costume Exploration

Celebrate Mother's Day with a delightful afternoon tea at Washington's Riverfront Park and the Great Bend Museum. Treat your mom to a special event filled with delicious treats, soothing teas, and quality time together. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the park in springtime while sipping on a warm cup of tea and indulging in sweet and savory refreshments. Then explore the history of women's clothing with "What's Under There? Demystifying Victorian Fashion." Costumer, historical fiction author, and historical dance teacher Jeanette Watts will take us on a detailed exploration of what women were wearing in the late 1800s, how they wore it, and why. Guests will also get a special behind-the-scenes tour of clothing in the museum's collection. In keeping with the historic fashion theme, the dress code is "Wear Your Mother's Jewelry."

Weather permitting, the tea will be in the shelter south of the museum, and the clothing will be in the museum's basement. The shelter is ADA accessible. The museum basement is down 5 steps. In case of bad weather, the event will be moved to the Ravenswood Annex, which is ADA accessible.
