Mosaic Workshop for Beginners

The Orange Show Center for Visionary Art preserves, promotes and documents visionary art environments, provides opportunities for the expression of personal artistic vision, and creates a community where that expression is valued. The organization owns and operates The Orange Show Monument, The Beer Can House and Smither Park, as well as produces The Houston Art Car Parade - the largest celebration of its kind in the world.

Learn the basics of mosaic art and create your own original mosaic tile to take home.

Smither Park

Smither Park artists John Gregory and Toni VanZant teach the basics of creating an original work of mosaic art, from tracing your image, to finding the perfect colors, to cutting and nipping tiles, and eventually affixing them onto a base. You&#x27;ll leave the class with a basic knowledge of mosaic-ing and take home your piece of art to grout yourself, or the option to return the following month to grout with the teachers. Designed for ages 16+ and limited to 12 students per class. Ticket includes all materials needed. Takes place entirely outdoors in Smither Park, under the shade of the Smither Park Vinson &amp; Elkins Pavilion. Limited street parking available; you may also park behind the adjacent Orange Show World HQ at 2334 Gulf Terminal Road with entrance off Gulf Freeway feeder approaching Telephone Road. Cancellations and rescheduling requests must be made at least one week prior to the class. Refunds are subject to a $10 administrative fee. Requests for cancellation within one week of the class are ineligible for a refund.
