The mission of Meals from the Heartland is toempower people to save starving children, focused both on feeding people and giving people a heart for volunteering and giving back to their communities.Meals produced by Meals from the Heartland are distributed locally, domestically, and internationally.  Internationally, Meals from the Heartland food goes to schools and orphanages in countries where children would otherwise not have a meal. These meals are distributed by our distribution partners through their feeding initiative program.Meals from the Heartland is celebrating its 14th year in operation and has, since its inception in 2008, packaged over 165,000,000 life-saving meals.  With generous supporters like yourselves, we'll continue our ongoing hunger fight.

Meals from the Heartland

Morsel Combat is a unique culinary event showcasing premier chefs and restaurants from central Iowa's thriving food scene. Each chef team will create and present a small-plate menu item. Diners and celebrity judges will determine their favorite dish to decide who is named Morsel Combat's top chef! Enjoy great food, live music by Eddie Arndorfer, and help feed the hungry!
Funds raised support Meals from the Heartland in their effort to feed the hungry both locally and around the world.
Chefs from the following restaurants will be participating: Fleming Prime Steakhouse, Trellis Cafe/Port of Des Moines, RoCA, Saison, Wasabi, JD Custis, Fomaro's Stuffed Food Truck, and more! 
Local bakery chefs including Jill Stoker with Jillybean Cakes, Echo Boland with Echo's Cookies, and Chelle Williams with Momma CTs Cupcakes will sweeten the evening with specialty dessert samples, and attendees will vote on their favorite!
Guests will enjoy an evening of live music and opportunities to win raffle/auction prizes, including a Johnny's Holiday Inn & Suites package, original artwork, golf packages, camping package, wine, and more.  
Awarding Morsel Combat’s 2018 Top Chef Prize include the following honorary judges: Brian Taylor Carlson, food and dining reporter, Des Moines Register;  Chef Terrie Kohl, graduate of New England Culinary Institute, and owner of Country Club Market, and more.
