Montezuma by Vivaldi

Established in 2017, the American Baroque Opera Co. presents to Dallas audiences intimate staged productions of operas from the Baroque era.  In addition to presenting works of well known composers including Handel, Vivaldi, and Purcell, our mission is to resurrect the operas of lesser known baroque composers, famous in their day, whose operas have fallen into obscurity.  We present our productions on period instruments with authentic historical performance practice, and are excited to educate and entertain new audiences with these masterpieces of the baroque.

American Baroque Opera Co.

The American Baroque Opera Co. is pleased to produce the regional premiere of Vivaldi's opera Montezuma, which has had only a handful of performances since it's debut in 1733 in Venice.  After being lost for 269 years, the opera was rediscovered in 2002.  As we explore the themes of love, honor, and duty in the New World, we will also celebrate our local heritage and culture in Dallas.  Don't miss this once in a lifetime production!  (This production runs approx. 2 hours 40 mins including intermission.)
