About this event

Life has been and continues to be challenging. Mental trauma is skyrocketing due to COVID, loss of life, jobs, possessions and constant world instability (to name a few). As we create our new norm, we notice many of our friends , associates and peers are silently missing. So many are leaving this world, and often we are unable to properly give honor or create peace in the loss .

In addition to easing loss, humans have a need to express joy and mark milestone events

Rock Painting enables you to manage and regulate emotions, as well as handle psychological distress and celebrate the wins in life. Many therapists and psychiatrists employ painting activities in their treatments. Mental health researchers have found that painting alleviates anxiety, depression, and stress.

We have partnered with the City of Lancaster to provide a space at the Lancaster community center where we have created a rock garden in an outdoor courtyard called the MomsHouse Remember Garden.

These are professionally guided group sessions lead by Alecia Dowden (@yahnaart) . Participants of all generations express whatever their individual spirit craves on a rock. The rock is dried, sealed and placed in the rock garden where community members and the creators can visit and reflect during the center's hours of operation.

Everyone can use a safe space and MomsHouse Remember Garden is a little wellness in the midst of the madness .
