About this event
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a creative and rewarding woodworking experience! In this special Mom & Me Class, you and your teen will work side-by-side to build a beautiful, handcrafted cutting board—a functional piece you’ll be proud to use or gift.
This hands-on, beginner-friendly class is designed for ages 14 and up, and includes expert guidance every step of the way.
What You’ll Do Together:
- Glue up your cutting board using Rockler’s deluxe panel clamps and glue tools
- Flatten the board using a drum sander
- Cut a handle on a bandsaw or jigsaw
- Sand the edges, corners, and surfaces using a combination of spindle/belt sanders, sanding blocks, contour grips, and random orbit sanders
- Apply a food-safe finish, buff it off, and take your board home!
Each cutting board will be made using top-quality hardwoods including cherry, maple, and purpleheart, making every project both stunning and durable.
👉 Finished cutting board dimensions will be approximately 5" x 16" x 3/4"

Frequently asked questions
This class requires the use of power tools, which requires the attendee to be 14 years or older. Attendees below 18 years must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or legal guardian throughout the entire class. If a parent or legal guardian is required to attend, only 1 ticket is required.
Safety glasses or face shields, hearing protection, gloves, and dust respirators will be provided free of charge as needed. No loose clothing should be worn, long sleeves should be rolled up, long hair should be tied back. No open-toed shoes can be worn during classes.
