An educational and authentic blues music presentation, this show will perform music from the birth of the blues to its modern era of today.

Not quite theater and not quite documentary, but an educational and authentic blues presentation, this show will take you from the birth of the blues and seeks to highlight how the blues genre heavily influenced our modern music and culture. Featuring one of high cotton music, Hall, sons, Max , Simpson, accompanied by a cast of high-level, blues, musicians, The commentary and carefully chosen song selections will demonstrate how the acoustic era gave away to the electric air. The presentation will consist of an acoustic set giving way to a powerful hour full band electric set. Come get your good mojo turned up to Max.

The most special thing about High Cotton is that we consider our audience family. And in that family, some of our musicians start with us as kids themselves. Max Simpson began with playing jams at High Cotton when he was just a teenager and has grown into an incredible musician who commands a stage all on his own as an adult. We consider him one of High Cotton’s sons and are so excited for his debut show with us. He, along with many other talented blues musicians, will be taking us on the journey of the blues from its birth all the way to modern day blues. This incredible show has already gotten rave reviews in his home state of South Carolina and we are so incredibly proud to present it at High Cotton and know you will be just as blown away.
