For over 80 years, Senior Centers have served as community focal points for older adults and served a core piece of the aging continuum of care puzzle. However, attendance has been dropping nationally, especially among Baby Boomers or “younger” older adults. Modernizing Senior Centers: Challenges and Opportunities will be a virtual event discussing the challenges and opportunities facing senior centers as our nations demographics and preferences change. Manoj Pardasani, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Hunter College who has done extensive research and wrote papers on the topic, and Dianne Stone from National Council on Aging, a long-time senior center director who leads the National Institute of Senior Centers and the Modernizing Senior Centers Resource Center will discuss the unique opportunities and barriers presented by this shift, with a focus on how to keep older adults connected.
