Modern Standard Arabic Basic Course (for beginners). This class will meet every Wednesday at 8 am (New York time), until the clocks change in New York, and then the class will be at 9 am New York time. This is not a conversational class taught by a native speaker of Arabic. We will be studying the eighteen volumes of 143 lessons prepared by the Defense Language Institute, with accompanying audio recordings, to be listened to as homework between each one-hour session on Wednesdays. Students are encouraged to learn to read the Arabic alphabet, using the DUOLINGO lessons of Arabic. In class students will be assisted to read correctly all the texts of the lessons.
