City of Grand Rapids Mobile GR and Parking Services

Join us on May 3rd for the Mobility Solution Summit, (from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) at KROC Center. The Summit is hosted by Mobile GR & Parking Services, The Rapid, and Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
The organizers have brought transportation experts from the cities of Houston and Cleveland who will lend their expertise on how to enhance future transit and mobility projects. WGVU’s Mariano Avila will be on hand to facilitate the panel discussions. The day will feature:

<LI>Our Cleveland guests discussing Transit Oriented Development and their strategies for strategically-locating affordable housing, reducing automobile dependence, promoting open space preservation, and encouraging brownfield remediation.</LI>
</UL>
<UL>
<LI>Houston’s recent overhaul of their METRO bus network, which has resulted in nearly 10% growth in ridership. The panelist will be speak to the challenges, successes, planning process that come from transforming their hub-and-spoke to the new highly efficient grid system.</LI>
</UL>
<UL>
<LI>Keynote Speaker Gabe Klein. Gabe is a renowned thought leader in urban mobility. He is the former Commissioner of the Chicago and Washington DC Departments of Transportation. In both cities he revamped technology platforms and government processes while focusing on the most efficient methods of moving people within the city. This included launching two of the first and largest bikeshare systems in the U.S. and building protected bike lanes and better pedestrian infrastructure for vulnerable citizens citywide, as well as facilitating private services like carshare and rideshare that could help each cities mobility goals. Gabe is also the author of "Start-Up City: Inspiring Private and Public Entrepreneurship, Getting Projects Done, and Having Fun.</LI>

Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The Summit is located at 2500 S. Division Street at the Salvation Army’s KROC Center. The Rapid provides regular bus service to the Kroc Center via both Route 1 (Division Ave.) and the Silver Line. For more details visit ridetherapid.org
