We have beach wheelchairs available for those that might need them. This clinic is for the general public as well as those that might be mobility impaired.
Enjoy a saltwater fishing clinic at Edisto Beach State Park. The Edisto Beach Volunteer Fire Department has graciously allowed us to use their beach wheelchairs for this surf fishing clinic.
We will teach you how to tie knots, rig your rod, how to cast, what bait to use, and what fish you can catch! After the instructional part of the clinic, you get a chance to apply these newly-learned skills by fishing!
Details for the event:
• Clinic: The instructional part will take place in the classroom there at the beach access part of the park. Then we will walk/roll the short distance to the beach, and set-up the area to fish. Rods and reels, bait, and tackle are provided for the duration of the clinic. This is a catch-and-release clinic. You *MUST* have a valid SC saltwater fishing license if you are 16 and older.
• What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside. Other items to consider bringing include a hat, sunglasses, sunblock, bug spray, beach chair, snacks, and reusable water bottle(s). We will have access to a bathroom at the classroom/welcome center. You can have your saltwater fishing license as a screenshot on your phone or have it in your pocket, bag, or wallet.
• Costs: The program is free of charge.
• Weather: This clinic will be held if the weather is good.
• Parking: I have added the Google Maps screenshot on how to get to the classroom and parking. The parking is in yellow. There is handicapped parking. The classroom is outlined in red. The road to take from HWY 174 is outlined in blue. The beach area where we will be fishing is in purple.
