Perpich Center for Arts Education is the state agency established by the Minnesota legislature to provide all Minnesota students the opportunity to develop and integrate their artistic and academic abilities to their highest potential.Perpich Center for Arts Education has three primary programs:-The statewide, public, accredited, residential arts high school for 11th and 12th grades-The statewide arts education library, offering an extensive collection of books and materials for use by teachers, artists, students and the public-Outreach, which offers statewide professional arts integration development, serves as administration for Turnaround Arts: Minnesota, provides standards-based arts education planning and curriculum development for Minnesota K-12 schools

MN Climate: A Creative Call for ChangeFREE EVENT, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. ALL AGES WELCOME.Perpich Arts High School students invite you to MN Climate: A Creative Call for Change. Students will respond to climate change through Visual Arts, Theater, Dance, Spoken Word, and Music. This event is designed to coincide with the Santiago Climate Change Conference (COP25), the international meeting where world leaders gather to discuss ways to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. The Santiago Climate Change Conference, which will feature the 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 25) to the UNFCCC and meetings of the UNFCCC subsidiary bodies, will convene from December 2-13, 2019.Perpich students want to give center stage to the unsung climate change artists who are lighting the way towards a just and sustainable future. Whether you’re a student, avid arts and environmental supporter, or a concerned community member – EVERYONE IS WELCOME! FREE EVENT, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. When Priya is not working on the strike, she is studying creative writing at Perpich Arts High School.Deepak Ray, Senior Scientist, Institute on the Environment Deepak Ray is a Senior Scientist with IonE’s Global Landscapes Initiative. He conducts research on local to global scale food security. Among the questions that he has explored are: does the productivity growth in crops tracks rising food demands and how climate change already impacts crop yields. To answer these and other broad questions he works with colleagues from around the world using high-resolution global crop statistics that he builds. His analysis is geared to help NGOs, industries, international organizations and governments to make more informed policies and take decisions to capitalize on positives, and explore ways to overcome challenges faced in the agriculture and food security sectors. In the tricky area of gene edited crops he is involved in discussions for a cooperative governance approach for collective action with farmers, industry, NGOs and academics. His goal is to explore through the agriculture lens ways towards a future in which people and the planet prosper together.Music: Ambient/Ephemeral Music based on sounds of glaciers melting/movingVisual/Media: This exhibition features works from Perpich Arts High School juniors in the visual arts department. Their works are responses to the question: what about climate change do you care about? These pieces address how we got the planet to where it is today. They address the people, places, and creatures affected. And ultimately, the pieces address what our future will look like if we don’t change. They range from informative pieces, to outcries, to soft reflections, but they are all a call to action.Literary: Pieces based on letters to Planet Earth, found poetry sourced from the most recent Climate Change Report. Attendees will have the opportunity to compose letters to Planet Earth.Climate Change Theatre Action: Perpich student directors will be performing eleven plays selected from the 50 available through Climate Change Theatre Action. The playwrights come from every inhabited continent on the globe, represent several cultures and Indigenous nations, are from industrialized and developing countries, urban and rural areas, and range in age from early-twenties to mid-sixties.Selected plays include:<ul><li>CANARY by Hanna Cormick</li><li>Bigger Love By Peterson Toscano</li><li>Drip By Yolanda Bonnell</li><li>Breathing Space By Yvette Nolan</li><li>Miss Viola Evie Anderson&#x27;s Dining Hall for Bees By Nathan Yungerberg</li><li>Ice Flow By Philip Braithwaite</li><li>The Arrow By Abhishek Majumdar</li><li>Blood on the Leaves By Madeline Sayet</li><li>You&#x27;re DAVID SUZUKI, aren&#x27;t you?
