CURRENT:LA FOODpresents new, temporary public art projects by 15 national and international artists and teams of artists who have taken on the global issue of food to highlight and encourage the discussion of topics such as: eliminating food deserts, supporting urban agriculture, improving food distribution systems, and strengthening food equity.Commissioning art installations, performances, and events in public parks,CURRENT:LA FOODaims to engage visitors in discussions about topics and issues that affect Los Angeles residents as well as the broader global community through the context of art and artmaking.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The nineteenth-century French gastronome (or foodie today) Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin famously wrote in his 1825 book The Physiology of Taste: "Tell me what you eat: I will tell you what you are.” CURRENT curatorial advisor Marco Rios invites fifteen artists to present and reflect on a memorable meal, from the sublime to the traumatic, such as eating fake whale meat in Japan to the best ceviche on a Tijuana street corner. Capacity is limited; RSVP preferred, space given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking is limited at this site. Please consider taking public transit, carpooling, or ridesharing when possible. Parking within the park is accessed off W 39th St. Street Parking is also available.

All artworks are outside! Please dress appropriately, bring shade or sunscreen, a bottle of water, and comfortable shoes.
