Discover how to design and shape light for live performance in this immersive workshop, part of Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program for emerging Miami-based technicians.

Led by Bruce F. Brown—renowned production and lighting designer, technical director, and educator—this workshop explores both the creative and technical sides of lighting design. Participants will gain insight into lighting as a storytelling tool and learn how to create dynamic visual environments for theater, dance, and live events.

About the Instructor:Bruce F. Brown holds a BA in Theatre Directing and Design from Michigan State University and has worked professionally for over three decades in South Florida and beyond. He spent 33 years as a dedicated educator at Dillard Center for the Arts, mentoring countless students who now work on Broadway and at theaters worldwide. Through his company, BFB Designs, LLC, Bruce has designed lighting for touring productions across the U.S. and internationally in Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, and the Netherlands. He currently serves as the resident lighting designer for several South Florida dance companies, including Dance Now! Miami.

About the Technical Fellowship Program:Miami Light Project’s Technical Fellowship Program supports early-career theater technicians through professional training and paid experience. Participants gain access to:
