Speakers

Themis Sapsis is the William I. Koch Professor of Mechanical and Ocean Engineering at MIT as well as the Director of the Center for Ocean Engineering. His research centers on mathematical methods for the optimization of complex engineering and physical systems in extreme conditions.

Michael Triantafyllou is the Henry L. and Grace Doherty Professor in Ocean Science and Engineering at MIT and the Director of the MIT Sea Grant. Triantafyllou pioneered the development of science-driven biomimetic robots to study the basic mechanisms of flow control that lead to the outstanding agility of fish and cetaceans.

Nicholas Patrikalakis is the Kawasaki Professor of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical and Ocean Engineering at MIT. His research areas include robotics and sensing, computer-aided design, computational geometry and visualization, and dynamic data-driven forecasting.
