BraveBe Child Advocacy Center is a non-profit organization providing a safe, child friendly location to conducting forensic interviews and medical evaluations for children in Southeast Nebraska who have experienced child abuse or neglect. BraveBe also provides a variety supportive services to children, families and the community including child advocacy, prevention training and special events.

Description: Children often choose to disclose to an adult they trust and feel safe with. If we are that trusted adult, what do we do next? How we respond after a child’s disclosure profoundly impacts the child and any potential criminal case that may follow. It is crucial we know what questions to ask and when to stop. Objectives:<ul><li>Understand the importance and purpose of minimal facts interviewing</li><li>Develop knowledge of Nebraska’s mandatory reporting laws</li><li>Prepare to make a report to law enforcement and/or DHHS</li><li>Learn how to support the reporter during and after reporting</li></ul> Audience: This training is ideal for adults who may be the first point of contact when a child discloses abuse, including teachers, school staff, social workers, medical professionals, caregivers, and other mandatory reporters.
