Mindful Movement: Enhancing Grounded Presence for Ourselves & With Clients
Event Information
About this event
Mindful Movement is an inquiry-based movement practice that deepens our connection with self and others. Formally called Mentastics®, this practice is a component of the Trager® Approach. It has no specific moves to learn, nor the stillness of sitting meditation, but is an on-going practice of being with the body in motion. It can’t really be fully described; it has to be experienced and this workshop lets us do just that! You will be guided in movement exploration of qualities we might want to embody, such as ease, lightness and possibility. In this kind of exploration, you will see how we move effortlessly into greater connectedness, groundedness, and presence.
Such qualities nourish a mind-body connection that deeply informs our work as therapists as it facilitates a more centered therapeutic presence and allows us to more naturally track our own awareness, reactions, and intuition. This brings more clarity to whatever tools we choose to use in our therapy practices. Join Trager® Approach Practitioner and psychotherapist Robbin Phelps for this vital experiential workshop for mind-body connection.
* This HPG presentation will be recorded. For those who would like to attend, but find that the time of the presentation doesn't work with your schedule, you may signup and get the recording of the presentation afterwards.
About the presenter:
Robbin Phelps is psychotherapist at Creative Ways Therapy in DC, and has a private practice as a Trager Approach practitioner and energy medicine practitioner. Her psychotherapy work is supported and influenced by twelve years of practicing the Trager Approach, which gives her a body-focused lens on her clients, and movement tools for self-care and self-development.
Since early on in the pandemic, she's been leading a weekly Zoom class in Mindful Movement, which is drawn entirely from this practice. Her joy is being in the mix where different areas of her work inform one another, like sharing Mindful Movement with psychotherapists.
