Student Volunteer and Community Partnership Opportunity.
AHAM Education Inc. (AHAM), organization in consultative status with the United Nations, in partnership with Diversity in Aquatics (DIA), and the SWIMS Foundation, the Children Services Council of Broward and the Southeast Climate and Energy Network (SCEN), are hosting a Mindful Beach Clean-up event at the historically black beach - Von D. Mizell/Eula Johnson Clark State Beach with the focused intention around non-violence, peace and equality in commemoration of Dr Martin Luther King's Day of Service.
This special event is in connection to the Mindful Broward Community of Practice hosted for community members to increase regular mindfulness practice for resiliency. We will provide various nature-based mindfulness/healing practices to build a deeper sense of interconnection and appreciation to peoples and spaces in nature across time, while restoring belonging, inclusion, and common humanity among diverse individuals practicing as one community.
South Florida middle and high school students will have the opportunity to practice mindfulness, learn how to integrate into their lives, serve in cleaning up beach, and earn volunteer service hours toward their graduation requirements. Must sign waiver to attend. A media release will also be provided for photos and videos.
