About this event

The series is open to familes with Middle and High School students who will be accompanied by one adult. Youth CANNOT participate without an adult who will also participate in the program. Please register each family member separately.

This is a 5 program series. Each Money Monday in April (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th) we will explore different financial topics. The program will begin with a family dinner at 5:30pm and continue with engaging activities and guest speakers. We will meet at VGCC in Seminar Room 1 (Bldg. 9, Civic Center).

Middle and High School teens will explore a program called Real Money, Real World where they will learn the following:

  1. How Education and Occupation Affect Income
  2. Deductions: What You See is Not What You Get
  3. Checking and Savings Accounts
  4. Making Choices: Preparing for the Spending Simulation
  5. Interactive Spending Simulation

Adults will participate in sessions on the following:

  1. Tackling Debt
  2. Budgeting
  3. Understanding and Repairing Credit Scores
  4. Making Big Purchases: Vehicles and Housing
  5. Retirement
