About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The SCA is extremely pleased to collaborate with the very talented local musicians of the Mill Valley Philharmonic (MVP), a 50 member group of volunteer musicians, under the baton of Artistic Director, Dana Sadava.

MVP has a 24-year history of bringing classical and standard orchestral repertoire and has performed over 200 concerts in Marin County and beyond.

    Chamber Music Program

    • On this day, we are presenting a string duo, “The Forget Me Knots” featuring MVP concert master, Charmian Stewart, with traditional Celtic, Scandinavian, and American tunes played on violin and cello.
    • The program will also present a string quartet featuring MVP musicians and friends performing a medley of pops arrangements from the Beatles and more. All the music will be light and fun - perfect for a summer day!

Education plays a prominent role in MVP’s concerts. The afternoon will be hosted by Seth Jaffe MVP President along with other board members, who will present educational highlights of the composers, the music period and the talents of our musicians. These informative talks will help the audience better appreciate what they will hear in this afternoon of inspiring music.

The concert will be set in the intimate art gallery of the SCA surrounded by the thought-provoking art being exhibited during the center’s groundbreaking Pride non Prejudice exhibition.

For music lovers of all types this is a great way to experience some of the best music the county has to offer with one of the best kept secrets in musical talent in Marin. Interaction with the musical artists is encouraged after the concert.

Doors opens at 4:30 pm – concert begins 5:00PM to 6:30PM
