About this event

  • 9 hours

If you've been an American living in Milan for any length of time, you likely know that you need to file US taxes. Oftentimes Americans in Italy don't owe any US tax, and there is a strong double taxation treaty in place.

Whether those facts are familiar to you or not, we welcome all Americans in Milan to register to come by for a confidential chat about any concerns or questions you have related to this upcoming US and Italian tax season.

Those with more far-reaching financial considerations are especially encouraged to come by. Our experts can confidently discuss both the implications of long-term residence in Italy due to their familiarity with the US-Italy double taxation agreement and working with Americans in Italy. For his part, Alex Ingrim is a fellow American living in Italy (based in Florence).

Meet the Experts

Originally from Alaska, and growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Alex Ingrim has lived abroad, in various countries, for over 15 years. He has significant experience with the complications of living abroad as an American and has lived and worked in France, Canada, the UK, Italy, and Malta. As a result, Alex has a nuanced understanding of how the US financial system interacts with others, including the French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and British systems.

Alex started his career in London, and previously specialized in investment analysis for large, international wealth management organizations. He focuses on building long-term relationships with Americans living in Europe and excels at holistically guiding them through the intricacies of cross-border financial planning.

Alex is based in Florence, Italy, where he resides with his wife and two sons.

Nicolas Castillo, CPA, is a cross-border US tax expert and strategist helping Americans abroad become globally tax efficient. He earned his degree from the University of Miami and is a proud Miami native.

Currently, he lives in Madrid with his wife and specializes in supporting Americans living in Europe and worldwide with their US taxes, both individual and business. Nicolas loves meeting fellow Americans living in Europe and takes pride in helping them gain confidence in their US tax situation, as well as rendering their tax filing as easy as possible.

Interested in meeting with one or both experts, but not available on the day of the in-person meetings? Not a problem!
