Migration Summit Opening Session

The Migration Summit is a month-long global convening designed tobuild bridgesbetween diverse communities of displaced learners, universities, companies, nonprofits and NGOs, social enterprises, foundations, philanthropists, researchers, policymakers and employers around thekey challenges and opportunities for refugee and migrant communities.We are looking to activate and establish communities of practice to come together to create more inclusive, generative, and sustainable spaces for systemic collaboration. The Migration Summit centers the perspectives and experiences of refugees, migrants and displaced persons to co-create prototypes, proposals, and recommendations to advance pathways to learning, livelihood and dignity.

The Migration Summit event in April 2023 will focus on the theme “Co-creating Pathways to Learning, Livelihood and Dignity".

The Migration Summit in April 2023 will focus on the theme “Co-creating Pathways to Learning, Livelihood, and Dignity” through virtual and in-person events hosted by participating individuals and partners around the world.

In the opening session, you will hear the Migration Summit Organizers (MIT Refugee Action Hub, Na&#x27;amal and Karam Foundation) set the tone for the summit. They will talk about what they hope to achieve in the second Migration Summit and their vision moving forward. Most importantly, they will celebrate all displaced people calling for global solidarity to respect their rights. The Keynote Speakers will be Omar Alshogre. He is a Syrian public speaker and human rights advocate, who endured three years of unjust imprisonment before being smuggled and brought to safety. Currently, he serves as the Director of Detainees Affairs for the Syrian Emergency Task Force and the spokesperson for @Atrocities Tracker, dedicating himself to the critical cause of advocating for the release of those unjustly detained. Omar’s public speaking engagements focus on the essential elements of Effective Storytelling, Leadership in Crisis, and Trauma as a Driving Force.
