About this event

  • 6 hours

The Mid-Hudson Trout Unlimited Chapter would like to invite; Lady Anglers for a day of instruction and tight lines at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center & Museum.

Our morning will start off with an introduction of new friends. We will break off into groups for casting instruction, gear selection, and entomology at the pavilion. Lunch will be provided. The Afternoon will be spent with tight lines on the Willowemoc in Livingston Manor, NY. We are inviting all female anglers new or seasoned to join. We have room for 12 to attend.

We would like to invite all women who fly fish to meet us after our program for an evening on the water. If you could please meet us at the CFFM bridge at 4pm for the evening hatch. There is an opportunity to meet up and fishing on Sunday if you are lodging in the area! Come on over and make some life casting friends.

Hello all,

My name is Sarah Baker, a few years ago I was approached about getting involved with the TU Women’s diversity initiative for our club and now the NYS Council of Trout Unlimited. We held our second Women on the Water event last year and had five women attend. This year we are hopeful for more ladies to become engaged in fly fishing on and off the water.

Over the last decade there have been many great women in this sport from Joan Wulff, Mary Dette, Elsie Darby, Agnes Van Put, and April Vokey to name a few from our region. These Women are the leading pioneers in a mostly male dominated sport. When we look to the future of our great sport the next up and coming women are right around the corner. From the stream to the vise women have slowly been taking charge. Some examples are Rachel Finn, the lead guide at The Hungry Trout lodge. Anita Coulton from Cross Current Guide Services of the Upper Delaware River. Brit Davenport behind the vise at Hackles & Herl, myself as the VP of Diversity Initiative of the NY State Council of Trout Unlimited. Lindsay Agness with Trout Unlimited Youth Program. The never ending growth of women in this sport whether it be on the stream or behind the vise is making 50/50 on and off the water more real than ever!

So I invite you to sign up for is chapters third annual "Women on the Water" event, to make some true life casting friends!
