Micro:bit Digitial Programming & Electronics training

By Start Thurrock

Overview

Learn about programming, create robots, build a challenge course and have a race in this digital workshop in South Ockendon!

This three-hour Micro:bit session introduces coding and digital creativity in a fun, practical way. Participants learn how to program a micro:bit (a pocket-sized computer) using simple tools before working in teams to solve challenges and build interactive projects, including a robot course.

The session develops essential skills such as problem-solving, logical thinking, creativity, and collaboration and is great for beginners or those who want to do more with tech.

Session Objectives:

  • Understand what a micro:bit is and how it works
  • Learn basic programming concepts using the micro:bit editor
  • Complete practical projects with the micro:bit
  • Encourage creativity and teamwork among participants

Participants will get an overview of micro:bits and what they are before covering basic coding concepts using MakeCode editor and writing their first programme. Then they’ll go into the main group activity: building and programming a challenge course and creating robots to run the course. They’ll test their projects to see how they navigate the maze and then compete in a race!

No experience or equipment needed.
