Description
Michigan Trees: A Guide to the Trees of Michigan and the Great Lakes Region is a new opera for folk and classical singers that follows the journey of Orna, a trans-woman as she grapples with self-acceptance. She travels to the north of Michigan--guided by the Mother of Trees--to transform into a white-pine that will sit upon Chapel Rock, on the edge of Lake Superior, overlooking it all. The opera will receive its premiere on August 28-29th at the Ypsilanti Freighthouse.
A Note on Ticket Prices: Every ticket is general admission. Each seat in the house is going to be a great seat (with only two rows of seating on either side of the performing space)!
We understand that many people have diverse financial contexts and so we've provided a system that allows people who can afford to pay more to pay more, and those with smaller incomes or have other financial restraints can pay less. All admission sales go to our amazing artists! And so, we encourage you to pay what you can, knowing that you are supporting local up-and-coming artists in the Great Lakes Region.

FAQs
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
The freighthouse doen't have much parking itself, though there is a dirt parking lot across the road (Market pl, and Rice st.) leading to the freighthouses for Frog Island Park, that the staff at the Freighthouse suggests guests use. Depot town additonally has street parking that is free nearby.
