About this event

Join us for our Metro Regional Meeting!

We meet every third Thursday.

Our regional meetings are a great place to go if you like talking about all the different aspects of self advocacy, and having fun while doing so! We always welcome new members, or even those who are new to learning about self advocacy! You are welcome here!🫶

If you have any questions please feel welcome to contact our regional coordinator, Jenna DeSpirito. Their email is: jenna.despirito@wearemass.org and their number is 339-832-2922. Thank you!

We will email you the Zoom link after you have registered.

What do we talk about at the regional meetings?

We talk about a variety of things, but they're all related to self-advocacy. So we might talk about upcoming events, we might talk about legislation, and we might talk about issues that come up for us in everyday life, like transportation and how we can make that better for everyone. Can I be an officer?

There are times when a region will need a new officer or multiple new officers. When this happens will depend on your region. For example, Metro holds their elections annually. Central holds elections every three years or as an opening comes up. When that time arrives, you can announce that you'd li

What if I can't go to all of the meetings?

If you're not an officer, you can go to as many or as few meetings as you'd like. If you are an officer, however, we expect a higher level of commitment. By this we mean you will need to attend the officers' meetings as well as the regional meetings, and it’s important that you attend as many meetin

Do I have to prepare for the meetings?

If you're not an officer, you do not have to prepare for the meetings. If you are an officer, however, you are expected to attend an officers' meeting and help plan the agenda for the upcoming meeting.

What if I want to be friends with someone at the meeting?

One of the great things about MASS is that people make friends at their meetings. We do want to be respectful of other people, though, as not everyone is interested in friendship. One good way of doing things is offering someone your information, rather than asking them for theirs. That way if they'

Cool. Does it cost money?

Regional meetings do not usually cost money. Sometimes we have events with food and we might ask for a small donation to cover those costs.

This all sounds really great. How do I get involved?

There are multiple ways you can get involved! You can go to our events calendar to pick the meeting you want to attend. Some meetings ask that you RSVP. Some meetings you can just show up to. You can also reach out to a regional coordinator ahead of time to learn more and possibly feel more prepared

I'm ready to get started!
