Description

If your neighbor were in need – you’d help. That’s the core belief behind Purposity, a digital community that Metro Nashville Public Schools has been selected to participate in exclusively for MNPS students experiencing homelessness.

Purposity connects the community with students in need of everyday items that can’t be fulfilled by grant funding and existing partnerships, like air mattresses, tennis shoes and clothing. With one quick text message notification, community members can seamlessly fulfill a need. At MNPS, Purposity will work directly with the HERO Program for Families in Transition, which serves more than 3,000 students experiencing homelessness each year.

We know our employees, community friends and partners are ready and willing to help our students in whatever ways they can. In less than 36 hours after announcing this avenue of support, more than 250 people signed up to support this initiative. In addition, four requests were posted and each one was fulfilled within the day. This means four students were positively impacted – by a simple text message and an invested community.

You're invited to celebrate the launch of this community parternship with MNPS staff.

Metro Nashville Public Schools is one of the nation’s top 50 largest school districts, preparing more than 80,000 students for higher education, work and life. With the goal of being the premiere large urban school district in Tennessee and beyond, MNPS wants to ensure Every Student is Known by meeting or exceeding focused outcomes that will help each child achieve growth from an academic and social-emotional perspective. The governing body for Metro Schools is the Metropolitan Nashville Board of Public Education, a nine-member elected body.
