META PANEL: WHERE ART AND DATA INTERSECT

Par Panopticon
Science Building: Simmons CollegeBoston, MA
oct. 24, 2015 to oct. 24, 2015
Aperçu

Where exactly do art and archives/art and librarianship converge? How does the ability to preserve art that was intended to be ephemeral affect the way the art is interacted with? How does it change the art itself? How do we even begin to make sense of data in the humanities?

We are asking these questions (and many others) of our multidisciplinary panel of artists, musicians, and creators.

We would love for you to join us.

Our Panel:

Angela DiVeglia (Moderator)

  • Curatorial Assistant, Providence Public Library Special Collections
  • explores puppetry, farming, and feats of curatorial daring

Janet Ceja

  • spends her time thinking about archives, film study, and media preservation

Nabeela Vega

  • Boston Based Artist
  • explores practices that go beyond the veil of the digital realm and the identity of the muslim american femme

Amanda Zhang

  • Assistant Director, East Meets West Bookstore
  • probes economics, femme as a political identity, and thinks a lot about oppression

Philip Fryer

  • Boston-Based Artist, Co-Founder, Present Tense
  • investigates the body as a circuit and the omnipresence of noise

Maggie Cavallo

  • Co-Founder, Alter Projects
  • Curator * Educator
  • provides dynamic learning experiences with, through, and for the arts

Elizabeth Novak

  • Founder, With Care Jewelry
  • with a background in historic preservation and art, Novak examines narratives of the past through jewelry-making

Tickets are free, but we would like to ask you to RSVP, so that we can get a sense of our numbers.

Light refreshments will be provided.
