Merlantis

Merlantis

Overview

Explore an expansive and immersive aquatic-themed art installation set in the mermaid city of Merlantis.

Merlantis, or The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an expansive, immersive aquatic art installation that transports viewers to a submerged mermaid metropolis built from recyled human materials!

Visitors explore a series of delightfully freaky underwater detailed environments—from a glittering coral throne room to the shadowy back-alley Chum Wall, and the UV-reactive abyssal zone. On select days, ambient performers and live ticketed performances invite visitors deeper into Merlantis society, where the merpeople curiously revere human objects like cell phones, soda cans, and other debris.

Created by the artists behind the web series SeaTrip, Merlantis emerges as a captivating underwater world blending fantasy, satire, and environmental storytelling to examine commodification, capitalism, and human impact on the ocean—all through a super-queer lens!

Throughout the space, sculptural installations, costumes, mannequins, and interactive elements bring the city to life. Dive into this theatrical art installation to see what lurks beneath the waves!

Dates: Jan 30 – March 27 (Friday-Sunday weekly)

Live performances: March 13,14, 20, 21 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Location: Base Camp Studios 2, 1901 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98101
