Let’s Talk About It (Part II): Coping and Thriving in Mental Health

Session Title Description

I Am Not Your Superwoman- Women Only: Superwoman syndrome is a phenomenon where a woman pushes herself to excel in all areas of her life, leaving her overworked, overwhelmed, and stressed. This session will address shifting your mindset focusing specifically on mindfulness, positive thinking, and a growth mindset. Through a variety of interactive activities, participants will learn how to shift their perspective and approach challenges with a more positive and proactive attitude.

F.U.B.U. (For Us By Us)- Men Only: Join us for a profound and insightful session delving into the intricate landscape of men's mental health. In this engaging and interactive discussion, we will explore the multifaceted aspects of anxiety, depression, and social pressures that affect men in today's society. From societal expectations to personal challenges, we'll navigate through the complexities that often go unnoticed or unaddressed.

Grief: The Things We Don't Talk About (For Men and Women): Grief is a complex and deeply personal experience that can profoundly impact individuals in various ways. This session aims to explore the multifaceted nature of grief, offering insights into its different types, the ways it manifests, and strategies for managing its effects.

Sacred Rest: A Mind, Body, Spirit Approach (For Men and Women): Sacred Rest is an opportunity to engage in rest by way of guided meditation, breathwork, and self-inquiry through journaling. This will be a safe space created to nourish your inner being by way of self-care. Our time together will be an impactful moment of mindfulness as you learn ways to care for your mental well-being.

Knock, Knock. Who's There: Fact or Fiction? (Youth): Many of us struggle trying to figure out when we're trusting our gut or being moved by our fears. Knowing what anxiety is and how it shows up can be challenging. In this session, participants will engage in activities and dialogue about discerning the difference between their inner critic and their true selves.

Matters of the Mind (Youth): During Matters of the Mind Session, group participants will learn the importance of maintaining your mental health through interactive exercises. Youth will learn the process of developing a prosocial self-identity and the benefits of a positive self-concept. Tenets of the Cognitive Behavior Therapy will be discussed with highlights of how thoughts create feelings, feelings create behaviors, and behaviors reinforce thoughts. Lastly, youth will learn the importance of emotional regulation and interventions to address their anger. This session will be interactive with activities for the youth to engage in as well as door prizes to win.
