About this event

  • 6 hours 30 minutes

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is evidence and skills based training that teaches people how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges as a Mental Health First Aider.

Like physical First Aid and CPR, MHFA teaches a 5-step Action Plan to help someone experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is obtained or the crisis is resolved.

This course requires 2 hours of self-paced content followed by 5.5 hours of instructor-led virtual training. It is valued at $170 and by the end of the course, participants will be able to:

• Describe the purpose of Mental Health First Aid and the role of the Mental Health First Aider.

• Evaluate the impact of early intervention on mental health challenges.

• Recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges that may impact adults.

• Explain that recovery from a mental health challenge is possible.

• Explain, choose, and apply the appropriate steps of the 5 step Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE) when a person is in a crisis or non-crisis situation.

Increase your mental health literacy, skills, and confidence to help someone in need by signing up to take this course now!
