Mending: Tough Mends

Mending: Tough Mends

Asheville Tool LibraryAsheville, NC
Saturday, June 27  •  1 PM - 4 PM
Overview

This is part 2 of our 3 part Mending Series! This session focuses on tough mends like jeans and work clothes.

Is your mending pile getting out of hand? This is your excuse to finally dig in. This is part two of a three-part mending series! Each workshop opens with focused instruction, then settles into shared work time where you can make real progress on your pile while swapping skills and company.

This session focuses on tough mends — Think jeans and work clothes! We will thread up heavy duty "work horse" sewing machines upstairs in the Art Balcony to create sturdy mends for those knees, elbows and other spots that need strong repairs. We will learn hand mends for harder to reach places as needed.

Classes run 1–4pm. No worries if you can't stay the full time — come for what you can.

What's Provided Basic supplies will be on hand. Please bring a pair of jeans, work pants, or other "tough mend" to work on. And don't forget something to drink and a snack.

What to Wear / Safety Notes No special attire required. Be mindful of needles during class.

Skill Level: All levels welcome — instruction included.

Age Requirement: Participants must be 18 or older.

Equitable Access We believe everyone deserves access to hands-on learning opportunities, regardless of income. That's why each workshop includes a limited number of Equitable Access seats.

To help us share these opportunities widely:

  • Each participant may claim an Equitable Access seat once per quarter (every three months).
  • These spots are first-come, first-served and limited by class size.
  • If you've already used an equitable seat this quarter, we ask that you register at full price so others can benefit.

Please only claim these tickets if cost is truly a barrier for you — this helps ensure that those who need the support most can take part.
