~ MEHFIL ~ Fundraiser for Delhi Libraries w/ DJ Anjali and Anand Vaidya

Saturday, October 4, 5–8 pm at New Expressive Works

Join us for an all-ages evening to raise funds for a free library organization in Delhi, learn about struggles for freedom and rights in India, and dance dance dance with DJ Anjali!

Celebrate and hear about Portland-based anthropologist Anand Vaidya’s new book, Future of the Forest, about law and landless forest dwellers’ struggles for rights in India.

Get on the dance floor as DJ Anjali leads a lesson on Garba, a Gujarati folk dance.

Sip on chai from Chaiwallah PDX (available to purchase) and enjoy snacks and drinks.

All proceeds go to supporting a free library organization in India that continues to create vibrant spaces of community-owned and shared knowledge. These spaces support people in developing a collective analysis of how class, caste, gender, and other forms of oppression divide people from one another and maintain a hierarchy of those who have and those who don't have access to books and knowledge. The organization provides tens of thousands of books to children and adults across India.

To donate directly, give via Venmo @freelibraries4all
