About this event

Dr. Paul Gill will be giving a discussion on counterterrorism. His research focuses upon terrorist behaviour. These topics cover lone-actor terrorism, threat management and risk assessment, radicalisation, role profiles, Irish Republican terrorism, the impact of counter-terrorism, social network analysis and psychopathological explanations of terrorist involvement. Routledge published his recent book on lone-actor terrorism. His work is largely interdisciplinary, evidenced by publications in leading psychology, criminology, political science, mathematics and general science journals.

His research has been funded by the Department of Homeland Security, the National Institute of Justice, the European Union, the MINERVA programme, the Office of Naval Research, START, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, and the Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats.

As a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence, the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology, and Education Center is an academic hub focused on bolstering counterterrorism efforts and terrorism and targeted violence prevention. We are 50-plus academics at 26 universities in the U.S. and U.K. working on 16 research projects. The projects aim to generate innovation, technology, and education for today’s counterterrorism workforce and inspire the workforce of the future.
