T﻿he Friends of Mount Auburn is a non-profit educational trust dedicated to the conservation of Mount Auburn Cemetery’s natural and cultural resources and public appreciation of the Cemetery’s many facets through programs and educational efforts.

A one-act play about love, loss, and the power of language.

Mount Auburn Cemetery

Scott Harney wrote poetry for more than thirty years, but his work wasn’t published until his partner recovered over 100 poems from his computer and file boxes in their basement after Harney’s death. Written and performed by Harney’s partner, Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Megan Marshall, along with David Gullette of The Poets’ Theatre, Meet Scott Harney is a tribute to Harney’s unknown creative life. Interweaving Harney’s poems with intimate stories of his youth growing up in Charlestown, attending Harvard and studying with Robert Lowell, as well as his battle with mantle cell lymphoma, this one-act play is an inspirational story about love, loss, and the power of language. T﻿he performance will take place in Bigelow Chapel. Immediately following the reading, we will host a Q &amp; A with writer/performer Megan Marshall, led by Somerville Poet Laurete and Pulitzer Prize-winning critic, Lloyd Schwartz.
