About this event

When we meditate and look inward, we paradoxically discover a natural feeling of warmth toward others. This is because the deeper we go within, the more interconnected we are. This indicates that our meditation practice isn't meant to be a solitary journey.

By meditating with others, we can experience the inspirational energy that arises from practicing in a group, deepen our understanding of the dharma through discussion, and cultivate a community based on deep and meaningful commonalities that will help you sustain your practice.

Each class will include two meditations, a dharma talk, and a facilitated discussion designed to deepen our understanding of the teachings and foster connection with others.

May’s topic: Do you find it hard to stay focused while meditating? What about at work? What about right now? If so, come to this series and learn specific techniques to improve your mindfulness.

June’s topic: We will focus on practicing self-care, especially when serving as a caregiver for others. Striking a balance between our love for others and our own needs is difficult. Find out how Buddha's insights allow us to benefit others without burning out.

Everyone is welcome. No meditation experience is necessary.

    Free for members / $12 for non-members.

Please cancel your reservation in advance by requesting a refund via Eventbrite if you are unable to attend. The Center will be open at least 15 minutes before class start time. Email us at info@brooklynmeditation.org with any questions.

THE BENEFITS OF MEDITATION AT KMC BK: It’s much more than mindfulness.

You’ve probably heard: Meditation reduces stress. It improves concentration. It benefits your health. It can even slow aging. But, that’s just the beginning—at least if you meditate at Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn. Our meditation practices are based on a lineage of wisdom that has liberated practitioners from anxiety, stress, pain and suffering for thousands of years, long before there was “an app for that.”

Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn provides Brooklynites with the opportunity to learn about meditation and Modern Buddhism. KMC BK members are your friends, and neighbors who have found these teachings to be just as transformative today. Stop in to one of our many classes and see if they work for you too.

    ABOUT US:

Kadampa Meditation Center Brooklyn offers Modern Buddhism and meditation classes designed to benefit everyone, regardless of their beliefs. Most of our classes and workshops are open to students at any level, and typically include a talk, guided meditation and discussion. We are a friendly, volunteer-run, non-profit community of meditation students. We are here to support your meditation practice. All are welcome!
