This course is designed for individual who meet the requirements and desire to supervise Maryland Peer Recovery Specialist.

This training is utilized for the purpose of establishing an understanding of the variation between supervising Peer Recovery Specialist and clinicians. The Registered Peer Supervisor training highlights the duties and responsibilities associated with supervising PRS/CPRS. The RPS must demonstrate the ability to provide effective supervision, model behavior and ethical responsibility for the certified PRS. There are certain knowledge areas and skills that are required to provide effective peer supervision services to workers supporting individuals living with behavioral health disorders. In addition, the RPS must provide supervision within their area of expertise yet be knowledgeable of the integrated services provided by the behavioral health systems.OBJECTIVES:· Differentiate between supervision of clinicians from supervision of Peer Specialists· Understand the peer recovery specialist role and the peer supervisory role· Learn values guiding peer supervision· Understand the functions of a supervisor in a peer-based recovery support service· Assist CPRS on how to use supervisory support
