About this event
- 4 hours 30 minutes
The Nature Conservancy and the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Beaufort are looking for volunteers to build an oyster reef made of concrete oyster castles along the Broad River. The oyster castles will provide a surface for young oysters to settle on and grow. The reef will provide habitat and a feeding area for over a hundred species of fish, crabs and shrimp. The reef will be comprised of four 500-foot long sections and will be built in eight segments (each segment stretching 250 feet long).Mark your calendars and get ready to build something amazing! Please contact Nicole Pehl @ the Nature Conservancy ( nicole.pehl@tnc.org)with any questions. An email will be sent with more detailed information closer to the event .
**Participate in all 4 builds and receive a prize**
