About this event

As Houston continues to grow, what role will arts and culture play in this ever-changing environment? We invite you to join us in this vital discussion on the state of and future opportunities for arts and culture in the Greater Houston area.

This event will include the participation of Mayoral candidates in the November elections. Each candidate will begin with a one-minute opening statement, followed by questions from the moderator and questions from the audience. Each candidate will also be given a two-minute closing statement.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and guests with RSVPs are encouraged to arrive early for guaranteed seating in Zilkha Hall where the forum will be taking place.

Houston, the cultural capital of Texas, boasts seven state-designated cultural districts, the most in the state. These districts, including Arts District Houston, East End Houston Cultural District, 5th Ward Cultural Arts District, Houston Museum District, Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District, Third Ward Cultural Arts District, and Theater District Houston, are coming together to organize this Mayoral Candidates Forum .

The Mayoral Forum on Arts & Culture is being organized by Houston's seven state-designated cultural districts, including Arts District Houston, East End Houston Cultural District, 5th Ward Cultural Arts District, Houston Museum District, Midtown Cultural Arts and Entertainment District, Third Ward Cultural Arts District, and Theater District Houston.
