About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

We will take a leisurely stroll through the prairie to see how topography and ecology led to the construction, use and longevity of sod homes for homesteaders in the late 19th century.

Follow entrance trail to parking and park behind the brown building and walk west to the visitor center.

The content for this hike is written for adults, but children 13 and older are welcome to join.

Please wear closed toed shoes for walking outdoors and on trails, appropriate layers for the weather, and bring water. This hike will be approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and approximately 1.5 miles. The hike will be beginner in difficulty, and we plan to move at a steady pace with some stopping.
