During the summer months we can expect to start seeing pelagic birds five miles offshore. Most are observed around fifteen miles near what we have nicknamed the “Hill”. The Hill is a natural formation rising a few hundred feet from the ocean bottom.
The Black-capped Petrel is among the most sought after birds due to the birds endangered status. Our trips have encountered this species nine times since starting in May of 2023. Your best chance of seeing one is during the month of May!
Our most frequent and photogenic visitors are storm petrels. We may also encounter tropical terns, shearwaters, boobies, and tropic birds.
Please bring food, drinks, and sunscreen. You may also bring your own small cooler or use one of the coolers onboard. And of course your own camera and binoculars. We recommend bringing appropriate protective items for your sensitive electronics.
