In addition to offering individual tutorials, the UConn Writing Center offers a series of workshops for both graduate and undergraduate students--and retreats and dissertation boot camps for graduate students. Here, you'll find sign-ups for things like:- personal statement workshops- workshops on things like abstract writing, literature reviews, and contextualizing research, among other topics- workshops for English language learners- the "Start the Semester off Write!" series- Saturday writing retreats for grad students- dissertation boot camps for advanced grad studentsSign up on Eventbrite to ensure you reserve a spot! All events are free and are open to students at the UConn-Storrs campus.

Maintaining momentum on your dissertation can be tough, but making a commitment to structured writing time can help. Writing in the presence of others can also bring a sense of solidarity and productivity that can get you through even the toughest projects. For this reason, the University Writing Center is offering its final boot camp of the academic year during May.
Participants will arrive with a draft of the chapters they are working on and their laptops, along with any notes or books. There will not be any tutoring or any lectures. The point is simply to make a commitment to sustained writing time and to generating pages. Space is limited; to reserve your spot and to create an incentive for you to write for each of the four days, you must register through Eventbrite and submit a promissory note for $50 by Wednesday, May 10th. If you do not attend each day, the Bursar's Office will charge you and we will use the funds for future retreats.
