Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace
STONY POINT CHURCH / FRIDAY, MAY 1 AT 7:30 PM
Matthew Smith is a founding member of Indelible Grace, an artist collective based in Nashville, Tennessee, that has led a movement to restore the historic practice of writing new melodies to old hymn texts. The community of songwriters and musicians grew out of the Reformed University Fellowship at Belmont University, led by RUF campus minister Kevin Twit.
THE CONCERT
SPC will host Matthew Smith & Indelible Grace in concert, featuring old hymns with new tunes. We will be singing along much of the time, so warm up your voices on the ride to church. Please invite your friends and neighbors to come along with you to the concert. Especially the doubters and seekers.
THE PRE-CONCERT HYMN SEMINAR
Matthew will also lead a one-hour conversation about hymns at 5:30 in the Fellowship Hall. During the seminar, Matthew will share his story of how he came to write new music to centuries-old hymn texts and why hymns are an example of emotionally honest worship. Much of the time will be open for a Q&A discussion, interacting with your questions. Recommended for (but not limited to!) pastors, worship leaders, church musicians, and songwriters.
The seminar will be followed by a Burgers and Dogs dinner for seminar attendees. Tickets are not required for the seminar and dinner, but please let us know that you plan to attend so we have enough space and food on hand.
Please pray for this event.
