Matt Maeson (born January 17, 1993) is an American singer and songwriter, hailing from Norfolk, Virginia. Matt learned to play the guitar at age 15 and grew up performing songs for inmates at maximum-security prisons with his parents. He played his first live gig at a Chick-fil-A open-mic night. At the beginning of his musical career, Matt derived the stage name “Matt Maeson” from his real name “Matt Mason” in order to avoid confusion with country star Matt Mason. In 2012, he released a 6 song EP under his real name entitled Black Lungs. In 2015, he returned to music and began posting his songs online, and in the summer of 2016, he headlined his first U.S. Tour organized by Mumford and Sons‘ Ben Lovett. His first EP since 2012, Who Killed Matt Maeson, was released on March 31, 2017. On April 27, 2018, he released The Hearse, his (officially) second EP. His debut album, Bank On The Funeral was released on April 5th, 2019.
