Friends of Allen Centennial Garden

When it comes to pruning fruiting plants, form follows function. Learn hands-on alongside Assistant Professor of Horticulture, Amaya Atuchua, the best pruning techniques to promote a bountiful harvest while supporting the long-term health of fruit-bearing selections. This class will explore a variety of fruits accessible to the home gardener including apples, blueberries, and grapes. 
 
Meet at the West Madison Ag Research Station. Please bring your own gloves and pruners. 
 
About the Instructor
Amaya Atucha is an assistant professor in the Department of Horticulture and the Fruit Crop Extension Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also the Gottschalk Chair for cranberry research. Her instruction responsibilities include teaching Hort 345 Fruit Crop Production. Her research program focuses on fruit crop physiology and production of deciduous fruit crops (cranberry, apple, and grapes in particular).
