Course discription
This course is not about air pollution it’s about the shrinking maxilla! The shrinking sinuses and maxilla have put some serious stress on the airway. Recent findings indicate that if matched by evolution the change in the size of the maxilla that’s occurred in the last 125 years would have taken 10,000 years. So what? This shrinking airway, or Upper Airway Restriction Syndrome has been linked to ADHD, Fibromyalgia, Enuresis, IBS, and sleep apnea to name a few.
Learn how to spot this problem in the earliest stages and options for improving symptoms in adults and preventing damage in little patients.
Learning Objectives
• Recognize symptoms of airway restrictions in children
• Demonstrate three evaluation techniques to use in adult clinical examinations
• Relate airway restrictions to patients in your current practice • Create inclusions to current health history questionnaires to highlight airway issues
Full Fiesta Mexicana menu available for you to purchse from along with a cash bar
The course is 1:00pm-3:00pm followed by a 1 hour social to sip a margarita and network!

Shirley Gutkowski, RDH, BSDH is the owner of Cross Link Presentations which increases awareness of the integration between oral and systemic health to consumers, dental and medical practitioners. She does this giving presentations, writing, and releasing audio podcasts.
Shirley Gutkowski has been thrilling audiences with fun and exciting ways of approaching dentistry and dental hygiene since 2001. Her courses evolve before every presentation, and even if you’ve had her give the course in the past, rest assured it’s revamped and even more advanced.
Her new courses are once again on the cutting edge. Prevention has taken on a new urgency. No longer is xylitol only a product for reducing dental decay, it’s an ingredient that will help open the airway! The airway is the newest identified leading cause of system wide inflammation. A dysfunctional airway may be causing unbridled dental decay or periodontal disease.
Her startup, Primal Air, is an airway business. She sees clients with airway disorders like snoring, tongue thrusting, restless legs, failed orthodontics, and TMJD. In addition, she trains dentists and dental hygienists to include OMT evaluations into their service mix.
As a result of her work thousands of practitioners are delivering a higher level of care including identification of airway issues in their patients.
